Collecting and Entering Data in Fossil Finders

This section of the website will tell you everything you need to know about how to collect data on your Fossil Finders sample and enter that data into the Fossil Finders database. This is THE MOST EXCITING part of the Fossil Finders project!

Collecting data requires observing the rocks in your sample, finding and observing the fossils in your sample, identifying the fossils, and measuring them. To learn more about how to observe, identify, and measure fossils in your sample, use the resources found here.

Entering this data into the database requires logging into the Fossil Finders database, setting up an account for your students, and helping them to enter information about each fossil specimen into the database. Once you have submitted your classroom’s information, your data will appear in the graphs in the database for comparison and scientific discovery!
